On Bernie’s Base & Clinton’s Chances

I see way too many opinions about holding Bernie’s supporters liable if Clinton loses this election. I get where that’s coming from. It’s the group most recognizable and easy to target next to Trump’s base and many have been vocal about not supporting Clinton, period. You wanna push people to vote against their conscience, that’s fine. But both the major candidates have historically negative favorability ratings and more than half of their own supporters only support them because they hate the other candidate. If she loses, it is not the fault of Bernie’s supporters. They made their voices heard for the causes they cared for and they were largely ignored and disrespected. Don’t even start with that “petulant child” bullshit, these are people who worked HARD for the candidate that they believed in. The Clinton campaign knew that. They knew how dedicated we were and should’ve been more inviting but they weren’t. That was THEIR fault and THEIR choice to alienate the rest of the democratic party and the independents they could have had on their side.

It doesn’t matter who wins this election. If you don’t see the problems with BOTH Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, that’s on you. But we are not fine and will not be fine until people decide to step up and volunteer, vote, and run for office to push for solutions to the causes we care about.

The thing about Bernie supporters is that we knew from the get-go that if that man got elected, THAT was when the real hard work began. We knew we would have to continue to fight and vote and volunteer- and we were prepared to do it. WE STILL ARE. I have witnessed a great deal from Clinton’s supporters, and you know what I see? I see people that care about electing Hillary Clinton. I see people that voted for Obama and sat back for four years, reelected him, and then sat back for another four years with a “He won, we’ll be fine!” mentality.

Yeah, I’ll fuckin vote for Hillary Clinton. I won’t be happy. Not even remotely. But I know her supporters won’t do jack shit after she gets elected. They won’t “hold her feet to the fire”- they would’ve done it during the primaries if they cared to see her flaws. They ended up making excuses and repeated what the mass media told them. And they’ll do the same when/if she’s president.

I will vote for Hillary Clinton while I will hold her damn feet to that fire. And she better not fucking forget it because I, and the Bernie supporters who will vote for her, sure as hell won’t.

Tl;dr Fuck you if you blame Bernie supporters if Clinton loses. I’m voting for Clinton cause her supporter base won’t do shit after she gets elected and somebody has to hold her accountable to the promises she’s making.
